Well it's not a bad evening by any means, but unlike Lalli, Emil is too wired to immediately fall asleep when everyone drifts off to bed. He wants... something; he isn't sure what, maybe just ten seconds alone with Lalli to kiss him goodnight. That would be nice! But there are just too many people in this house, and inevitably he gives up and goes to bed without any smooches. Sad. He's probably sulking a little, but no one has to witness it, so it's not even a productive sulk!! He falls asleep purely because he's bored and needs attention...
...And somehow, he's surprised when he blinks himself "awake" in yet another shared dream, although that could be entirely because they're in a tiny dark space instead of at that perfectly nice dock with the ducks?? What's going on-- aha.]
Oh, come on. I can't possibly be expected to stay in here.
[Whine, whine. Maybe if he shuts his eyes really tight, they'll get bounced into another dream spot... Right? That's how it works? This is what he'll be doing whenever Lalli feels like joining him here in the Conversation Zone.]
no subject
It's not that bad.
[Better now than then, anyway. And he almost follows that up with "At least we don't have to hold onto the lid this time," but then he sees that stupid look on Emil's face and he just can't help but to ask:]
...What are you doing?
[Boy, that is a look of intense concentration?? Is he trying to, like, poof back to his own dream...]
no subject
Hmm, no.]
I was trying to get back to where we were before, but apparently that's not how it works. [But they've already been over how Lalli doesn't know how the dream stuff works either, so he's not going to press the issue. Hi, Lalli.]
I guess this is it. [Ssssooooo...] Well, hi.
no subject
Hi. [And that's all he has!! No, no... just give him a second to yawn, to stretch his legs out as best while he thinks of something to say. "Today was nice?" "I like kissing you?" Ah... hmm...
...Okay, so that one word apparently is all he has. Help...]
no subject
You ran off to bed before I could say goodnight. [sleepy jerk] Give me a minute next time!
no subject
Okay? [Note taken.] But if you needed me for something, you knew where to find me.
[Under his bed? Like, this makes perfect sense to him? He's doing great.]
no subject
That's... fair, I guess. But I meant I wanted to, you know, kiss you goodnight. People do that.
[Why does he feel like he has to defend his dorky desire for goodnight kisses? This is silly.]
no subject
...Okay, well, he'll just pointedly ignore that fact as he places a hand over Emil's.]
You can kiss me goodnight now?
[In this TRASH CAN.]
no subject
Technically, we're already asleep. [But dream kisses are still good! 10/10! He gives him another quick peck as a bonus.]
I don't think your cousin likes me very much, so you might have to come find me.
no subject
...Mmm. [So, like, total agreement with all that was just said! Nice! But while Lalli isn't all that great at cushioning blows, he still finds himself drumming his fingers against the back of Emil's hand as he thinks of how to better explain this.] He... hasn't met a friend of mine before.
[And there's a lot that goes with that? About their family dynamic, and Onni's protective nature, but Lalli looks back at Emil and goes for something else, instead.]
I've never had one. Before you.
[It's not something he ever cared about, either, so that's spoken as calmly as everything else. Water is wet, the sky is blue, I never thought I'd like someone until I met you...]
no subject
That's Character Development. He still scoffs, smoothing his thumb over Lalli's cheekbone.]
Hmmm. Well, it's not like we have to tell him about the rest. [The kissing and being generally soft as hell, that is.] Unless he stops looking at me like I'm crazy first!
[Hmph!! Loud Swede vs. silent Finn, the heat is on.]
...I, um, I haven't had any friends before either. Certainly not any I was kissing.
no subject
So instead of worrying about that particular bridge, Lalli pulls a face—one that screams, "Yeah, good luck with that"—before focusing on the other topic at hand. No prior kissing friends? Well, it's nice to know they're both in completely new territory here, but also: hmm. What is that supposed to mean about friendship??]
I never kissed anyone. I didn't want to. [Just throwing that out there, since this is apparently a trash can confessional, before he slides his hand down to encircle Emil's wrist.] But I kissed you, and we're still friends.
[There's not enough of a lilt at the end of that sentence to make it a true question, but... maybe he's curious? Maybe he's thinking back to the very first smooch of the day, wondering what, if anything, that changed about their relationship as kisses Emil's palm yet again. Explain!!]
no subject
Well!! Words mean things, but-!!]
Of course we're still friends. [He's keeping this friend, that's a nonissue. The, ah, other part-] But— more, too? I thought that was what happened this afternoon.
no subject
...Sure! Lalli isn't the type of person to care about proper names or terms, so as he places that hand back on his cheek, he decides that he can work with friends-that-are-more-than-friends. They're fine; it fits.]
When you told me that you liked me very much? [And he, you know, parroted it back. Yes, he remembers that! That new type of like! Very exciting. Plus there was also all of the kissing, but...] And then you said something else in Swedish.
[What was it, Emil? What was it??]
no subject
But what did he say??]
Ummm— I say a lot of things in Swedish, so...
[Give him a moment to remember which exact dumb thing he said with his human words. Aha.]
I suppose I did say that I'm such a find, it's no wonder you like me so much.
[He says it again like it's not silly...]
no subject
But rather than say that and inflate Emil's ego to dangerous levels, Lalli shifts a bit, tucking his hands beneath his cheek before closing his eyes. Good night...]
Then maybe I don't like you as much as you think I do.
[Nah, he does. They both know this, and yet!]
no subject
You do. Lalli...
[Look at him, brat!! The hand that was on Lalli's face wanders down to his side and slides around to lay flat against his back. Hello, pay attention to him.]
What's wrong with what I said?
no subject
Pfh...
[There is, of course, nothing wrong with what Emil said, but Lalli can't just say that? Lalli can't really say anything right now, thanks to this neat hole he dug for himself; he settles for stretching a hand up to where he thinks Emil's smug face is, blindly feeling his way down a cheek... and then pressing the tips of his fingers right against his lips. Shh!!!!]
no subject
How long can Lalli deal with the knowledge that Emil is making his smuggest face yet just inches away? Be strong.]
no subject
Or maybe he'll, you know, finally open his eyes just enough to silently watch Emil. How long can he last...]
no subject
So, he's pouting. Of course he is. Ugggh siiiigh.]
Lalli, come on, you're going to spoil all the time we have to talk without translating.
no subject
Learn more Finnish, then. [He's just saying? But in a soft way, because you know, it is nice to talk to one another like this. It's why, after settling back down, he decides to just give right in.] ...What do you want to talk about?
[Feelings... no, because then he might just fluff up like a cat.]
no subject
I don't know if you're aware, but Finnish is hard to learn! [He's terrible at it!! That part Lalli is well aware of, but please, consider his simple baby language compared to all those... letters. That's his only language whine (for now), though; he hums, doodling a squiggly nonsense shape on Lalli's back with his finger while he thinks of things to talk about besides feelings and also himself.
Uhhh!!]
Well, we're stuck out here with these sheep people for the foreseeable future, so what do you want to do tomorrow?
no subject
...We could walk to town. [Sheep Town! Smaller than Reykjavik, much bigger than what he's used to, but:] There are new shops? And another one that sells sweet things.
[All of which, of course, he heard secondhand from Onni after Reynir spent a good day and a half trying to convince him that showing him around his hometown would be fun for everyone involved. Anyway, please appreciate this effort? He's only... half-thinking of cinnamon rolls here...]
no subject
As long as it's just you and me, [he says, as if there was ever an option where they went with other people. Just confirming their continued antisocial behavior... But you know, he doesn't want to complain about sheep people all night, so-] I'll buy you something sweet.
[Several somethings, probably!! He'll spoil the hell out of his boy.]
